Our teachers use a wide range of teaching strategies — from child-initiated learning to teacher-directed approaches– to best respond to children’s learning styles, strengths, and interests.

CGSKid uses a multi-age grouping. Children learn from each other in a spontaneous manner that supports their independent self-directed activity. We are serving children of all ages: Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers, Prekindergarten, School-age kids, and Summer camps for kids from ages 5 to 12.

The teachers at CGSKid learn about the individual children through observation. Based on observations, the teacher discovers the child’s interests and natural abilities and helps guide them to new challenges. Therefore, not all children necessarily arrive at the same academic milestones at the same time. CGSKid also uses Ages and Stages® developmental screening tool to aid in creating an environment that supports each child.

At CGSKid’s our discipline methods are based both on the Montessori environment and social/emotional research. In this area, observation plays a large role as well. For example, the teacher observes conflict and guides children to resolve it themselves. The children learn to talk to about conflict with peers and are refocused to purposeful activities where (s)he has observed success.
